LE GUN at the V&A
LE GUN were asked to produce a piece for the Victoria & Albert Museum's exhibition 'Memory Palace'. The exhibition is based on novelist Hari Kunzru's story of the same name, which he wrote especially for this purpose. Twenty graphic artists were then asked to illustrate a section of the text in any way they liked.
The story is set in a dystopian London of the future, where an electrical storm has wiped all memory, knowledge has disappeared, and previous ideas and concepts are vaguely misremembered at best. Our piece of the text describes how 'doctors used to roam the streets, performing great tasks,' which led us to produce a misremembered ambulance.
We went about it in our usual way, going from concept to drawing to realising that drawing into three dimensions - you can see the piece at the V&A in London until October 2013.
